Slocombes History: Motorcycles have been an important factor in the Slocombe family for 75 years, since Bill Slocombe started buying, selling and riding them in the early 1930's. After the Second World War Bill left his original partner and went into business on his own, from small premises in Neasden and later moving into larger showrooms in the fifties. Through the halcyon days, Slocombes were a major force in biking, selling big names like Triumph, BSA, Ariel, Velocette, James and Norton to name but a few. Bill himself was a keen competitor in the sport and his biggest success was becoming British Sidecar Trials champion in 1960, although he won many other club events through the years. An association with BMW began in 1971 with Honda following later that decade as many well known British makes fell by the wayside. Today, the business is now co owned by Bill's son Paul and his nephew Ray continuing to offer a relaxed customer focused Honda dealership. |
